Buffalo - New York. 28 February, 1977
February 28, 1977 was a cold night in Buffalo, New York. Genesis returned for their first arena-sized show with the Wind & Wuthering tour. Memorial Auditorium was built in the 1930's for conventions, the circus, etc. By 1977 it was home to the Buffalo Sabres NHL hockey team. It held about 16,000 people for concerts, and it was sold out that night--the largest crowd for Genesis in Buffalo to date. This was easily 10,000 more than saw them perform A Trick of The Tail the year before. The stage was elaborate for the time, and a close look reveals the laser is on and ready to perform! |

You can see ticket prices had skyrocketed since The Lamb tour, as center
stage floor seats now cost $7.50.
Steve's famous puffy shirt and boots are in tow, as are Chester and Phil's
hair.

This is a charcoal drawing I did many years ago (TOO many! ), which has
always been a fave with family, friends and basically whomever passes
through... Often termed 'haunting' (like that inimitable guitar work),
everyone swears the eyes follow you around the room, and I received many
fervent compliments on it when I opened my house for charity last year.
("Is that someone in your family?" HA! Don't I wish!).
The original is 11 x 14; drawn (obviously) from the 'Please Don't Touch' back cover photo. Submitted by Rima |
